just some quick ones

Specialist Cadet School is fun and damm slack as compared to BMT.
almost 2hours of admin time everyday and get to use laptop to surf facebook,watch anime,read manga etc. shiok

we get to bring protein powder,hp chargers (maybe illegal i dunno),cup noodles and many more as compared to bmt.ahahha

but the SAF 8th (unofficial) rule still applies
go but don't get caught =P

BMT LIFE update :D

Key take away from BTP (shooting range)
live range, the last high key event for us recruits. It took a whole day but was fun as well. Night shooting was relatively easy for me as i do not have night blindness and my LAD was working and zeroed properly. The best part i feel was buying food from the uncle who drove the ''ninja van''.We stuffed ourselves with chocolate and chips. There wasn't really much time to relax there as we were either getting ready to shoot, waiting to proceed to the range or waiting to draw our magazines. we didn't really step much into the admin area until dinner time.

The key takeaway however, i find would be the experience we get from shooting the SAR21 in the various positions, eg.standing,squating,proning positions. This would be an experience we would not be able to get outside, even during the army open house, that i remember i was only given 3 rounds to shoot and in the foxhole position. just for that 3 rounds i had to queue half a day.

Greatest achievement in BMT

i feel the greatest achievement in BMT would be making all the new friends here, working together, sharing all the ups and downs and ultimately forging a close bond. Although we are only here for 9 weeks but i think up till now which is already 6 weeks, i can safely say my platoon is cooperating with one another, with no one coming late for stuff and everyone reminding reach other to check or do stuff, and even helping each other out for other tasks, some as simple as taking a cup of drink for each other.

Next up would be finishing field camp. 5 days of not showering,bushing teeth, not shitting and rolling in the mud,proning in the mud, standing in the rain all wet and cold.Wow, i can't believe i actually finished it!

Whats the biggest change you see in yourself after 6 weeks in BMT?

I feel that i have grown stronger mentally and my appetite has increased by quite abit. At the beginning the 4km route march was a killer for most of us as i believe not many of us would carry on a field pack of 10-20kg tgt with our rifle,lbv and march for 4km. Thus not many of us were conditioned for the route march. However, as the days went by, the numerious PT sessions, numerous punishment sessions had made us stronger not only physically but mentally as well.

The 8km route march didn't feel as bad and as long as the 4km route march. The 12km route march wasn't that bad as well, although the blisters and abrasions continued to form. I worry abit for the 16km route march but i believe we are all up for it and the bookout the next day would be the motivation for us.

Rate your performance from 1 - 10

there are many things that i can rate myself for during BMT, firstly i would give myself 8.5/10 for my overall performance in BMT as i believe i gave everything my all.

Next for mental performance, i would say 9/10 i believe everyone who has not fallen out or reported sick unless due to serious ill-nesses should rate themselves at least a 9/10.

For physical performance (eg.ippt, pt sessions), i would rate myself 8/10.

Finishing the route marches, sitest and the field camp especially is not an easy task. But most of us made it and we should be proud of that.In a blink of an eye its already 19 more days to POP.How time flies.

Lastly i believe nobody is perfect so rating oneself 10/10 is rubbish.

Field camp

this is an update copied from my blog for army.hehe

FIELD CAMP

Field camp, the one high key event that most of the recruits in BMTC are dreading or looking forward to it. From the word of mouth, field camp would seem, to one who has not experienced it ,to be one of the worst moments one would face in the army.

The 8km road march to the area wasn't really a good start as by time all of us reached the field camp site we were all really tired. However, the singing along the way lead by the sergeants and the song ic really helped to improve our morale and mental strength.

Upon reaching the harbour area, we proceeded to pitch our bashas.Although we had a small amount of experience of pitching our basha tents, doing the real thing in a short amount of time and with only 2 people is not an easy task. I feel that teamwork is very important in the army, and that the basha tents would have been promptly set up if everyone helped one another as compared to each pair building their own bashas.

The next part was one highlight of the field camp

Eating rations! Some were quite nice to eat while others eg.sweet corn+sausage was horrible.The desserts had their fair share of edible and inedibility as well.bubu teribu was one of the best desserts!

After eating, we had a kickstart on our field camp training.Learning fire movement etc. The weather wasn't particularly good throughout the field camp. Our clothes were soaked most of the time and proning in the wet grass or even in big puddles aren't very exciting as well. But all these are part of what would make us a better soldier.

Ok i would love to rant on and on but it would make no end to this so i would just go to the main points.

The best moment in field camp

Personally i feel that the best moment in field camp was eating the cook house food after we read the letters from our parents. Now i feel that we begin to appreciate the cook house food more after eating field rations for 5 days.

The worst moment in field camp

This point would be quite a tough nut to crack.I think that the digging and covering up the shellscrape was the worst moment in field camp. Just standing there digging and digging wasn't a very exciting task to do although we all understood the importance of digging a shellscrape and that we all had to go through digging it.

How field camp has affected me and whether it has changed me as an individual.

Field camp has affected me in a few ways. Firstly, field camp has taught me the importance of teamwork in not only your session but teamwork as a platoon or even as a whole company as well. One person could easily bring down the whole platoon but one person could also easily bring up the morale of the whole platoon.Next would be the importance of effective communications. One should learn to communicate efficiently so the other person would give a approproate response. This point in reinforced more when we did our tactical march. All the hand signs/signals must be passed on promptly and correctly in order for the whole platoon to smoothly get from one place to the other.

As an individual i feel that i have changed to become a more responsible person and more resilient in terms of mental and physical strength.

Will there be any change to interest in taking command?

No there won't be any change to interest in taking command.I came to bmt with a goal to reach OCS and if that chance comes i am definitely not letting it go!

then went to chomp chomp to eat.chicken wings, satay and carrot cake.Of course not forgetting the huge cup of sugar cane (Y).

army life so far has been quite okie.Everyday kena fuck by the Sergeants and sirs.
do pumping like free one.

morale going down down.mental strength and physical strength trying to hold it there.

Some advice for those going army,

1)

if you are going enhance batch you better make sure you are fit and can at least pass your ippt if not life will be fucking hell for you. Our schedule is super tight, book outs are very little. If you are not very fit just go in the ptp batch and train there, more relax. You go enhance batch sure die and tio fuck.

2)

Label all your stuff. Some fucking people will go around stealing your clothes, socks etc.
esp your swiss knife which they will give you, please label them!

3)

The sergeants and sirs are NOT your friends. Dun reply them with ''ya'', ''orh'', ''huh?''
sure tio fuck.LOL

ya = 10 counts of 4 , ya ya papaya
huh = 10 counts of 4, huh huh huh lampa

food at the cook house ain't that bad. In fact i actually enjoy eating there (Y)

BRING MOPIKO
there are fucking alot of mosquitoes at tekong, whats more nows the rainy season.
i get like 4-5 new bites each day.z
make use of the SAF issued insect repellent but don't spam as it is very concentrated and can burn your skin.lol

6)

take care of your rifle with your life!
rifle tio stun (kope away by the sir,sergeant cos you nv lock cardboard etc.) = confinement
now with so little book outs left, you can't really afford to waste and burn out your weekends.

7)

If you are the platoon IC, please at least try to do your job and learn the commands if not you will fuck every one up.

8)

Toilet IC's are the most suay people.=|

9)

wash your clothes in camp.lol confirm not enough to use one or if you want can buy more.
buy more = more chance get stolen =|

its national day!
well i'm blogging late so it WAS technically national day.hehe
happy birthday singapore

went out with <3 to the National Museum of Singapore today.
there was a carnival there so went over to check it out.
The first thing we did when we got there was to take a game card!
man was i excited.
then we walked in.guess what i saw

children queueing up to play the fishing game.(catch some toy fishes) -___-
we didn't play in the end.LOL
walked around the museum alittle then went off.
wanted to walk to the esplanade, but i sort of didn't know how to walk and thus ended up window shopping at raffles city and funan the IT mall.hehe
after that we went down to ecp for a wonderful bbq at UI. :D

ohoh! before we headed down to ecp lynn wanted me to buy 1KG of prawns back for the bbq.
went to cold storage, the prawns were alittle expensive and in packets. So went over to NTUC to get the prawns.guess what. i picked the prawns piece by piece till i got 1KG.LOL

didn't skate today as i would be tempted to slide and i CANNOT afford to fall as my right wrist is still painful from falling on sunday ):

That's when you realise, you're becoming like the someone who once hurt you and that person who is caring for you now, was the past you. People are like that, when they get hurt, they bring the scars along to the next person who genuinely cares for them, and the whole process repeats again.

How can we ever forget?

But please, don't forsake those who really care - they were once like us, they just really care for you. Treat them right because it's not fair for them to suffer because of what someone else did to hurt you in the past."

World slalom championship

The date is drawing very near
to compete in a sport we hold dear
its not basketball,soccer or hockey
but a sport in which we must pay a fee

Inline skating is the name
and sliding,hey! its the game
it all started back when i was in sec 3
i rented skates once a week as though they were free

As i skated more and more
i decided that rental skates were a bore
so i bought myself a pair of skates
and left everything else to fate

MX was my very first pair of skates
and my skates and i were always on a date
breezing through ECP like the wind
taking care not to crash into the bins

after awhile i noticed a skating group sliding in the rink
they did their slides without even hesitating to think
it was then i decided to join in their sliding
never to look back and question what i was doing

a few YEARS later i won my first medal
well then i wasn't fit as a fiddle
since then i trained even harder
hoping one day to compete against my leader

then the day came for the world comp selections
our ranking would be judged based on our actions
we put our best slides to the test
and the ranking eventually showed whose best

some people were happy some were sad
but i applaud all who competed with respect
at least the effort was there
and everyone had something to share

so back to the topic about the competition drawing near
and about the very sport that we hold dear
it will be held in korea in the month of september
and after a few days would be over

now there is around one month to train!
its not the time to let the hopes on me be in vain
ah.skating it has been and always will be
a sport that i'll always love! TEEHEE!

when i first saw you you blew me away
with your smile and everything else la deh
we slowly got closer chatting more and more
life then didn't seem to be a bore

we went out the first time on Christmas
oh what ''fun'' we had
there was a long queue at cine.tsk
the walk along orchard road was bad

then we went out again on the 28th
went for stroll along east coast
that was when i first held you
well nothing to boast

but then we slowly drifted apart
going to school seemed to make life suck
after awhile there was totally no contact
it seemed that time wouldn't turn back

after a few months you suddenly came back
i didn't know how to react
then i told myself to give us a chance
to take time back to that very month

we got together on the 12 of june
back then it seemed everything was in tune
filled with joy
life suddenly got better, oh boy

one month later i saw something i shouldn't have seen
something that tore my heart it would deem
oh well your name is still carved into my heart
but all those memories should just go out my butt

then korea in september for the world comp

its been sooooooo llloonnnnggg since i updated this.=S
been busy for the past week working at centrepoint!
selling luggages and chatting with the wonderful ppl working there too! (:
with the exception of 1 or 2 of course.LOL :x

friday sat and sunday were the busiest with sunday hitting a total sales of $8k+ :D
monday was rather boring with sales only hitting about $1480.
Tuesday was pathetic thus i decided not to work full shift for that day and go off abit earlier. :x
i shall convince myself that you're not worth it.
